Collection BIOMUS / Museum Fantasies

The exhibition was presented at The State Biology Museum named after K.A. Timiryazev in Moscow as a Special project within the frames of the 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art.

Collection BIOMUS is a group of artists working with different techniques and materials and with a common interest in exploring and describing nature. Each one has his own point of view, poetical, descriptive or questioning. In the old museum's fantastic environment, we will collect and arrange different collections, with biological material - plants, animals, fungi, humans - as motif and theme.

Lecture by Elena Shipitsyna "Land Art as a form of Social Art"

Elena Shipitsyna Curator, Art Director JSC "Ekaterinburg Gallery of Modern Art". Lecture on the topic: "Land Art as a form of social art. The role of the contemporary artist in the urban environment and the natural landscape".

3 October

Video art program by Marina Fomenko

A selection of works of International Video Art Festival Now&After on a general topic of exploring and describing nature was presented by artist and curator Marina Fomenko.

7 October

ROUND-TABLE "Contemporary Art at the Natural History Museum"

The Biology museum invited participants from other natural history museums in Moscow, such as State Darwin museum, Zoological museum and others.

TV channel "Rossiya Kultura" visited the opening of the exhibition and made interviewes with the artists Jöran Österman, Malin Schønbeck, Carin Carlsson and curator Olga Zubareva.

6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art

The Moscow Biennale is the epicenter of a vast effort by the Moscow art scene that includes more than a hundred exhibitions throughout the city, structured within the categories Special Guests, Special Projects and a Parallel Program, ranging from a Louise Bourgeois survey show and a new project by Anish Kapoor, up to group exhibitions that present diverse perspectives on the Moscow and broader Russian art scene.
